HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MEEEEE!!!
September 17
I turned 51 today and I was thinking of the “before and after” of a dog rescuer.
I grew up in Miami in a nice neighborhood, in a nice house with a pool. I was tall and thin so my clothes were purchased at 5-7-9, Casual Corner, and Burdines. At 17 I owned a cute little used Fiat Spider. At 22 my husband and I bought our first home.
Now thirty two years of marriage, eight children, and more than that dogs later, I live in South Carolina. I drive a 2002 Kia Sedona with the seats out in the back. It always has the aroma of eau du perfume DOG. Most of my clothes are purchased at the thrift store because I can’t bring myself to pay $32 for a shirt that will eventually have muddy dog prints on it. My dream home on the lake has been redecorated in a cross between Tuscany Doggie Day Care and maximum security prison.
Sitting in an Italian coffee shop a few years ago thinking about retirement I never would have imagined this is where I would be. God is so good to give me a job that I can be passionate about. It doesn’t get any better than to look in the eyes of a sweet little puppy that has just pooped on your new rug.
